A Simple Health Check for Better Wellness SEO
You’ve put time, energy, and heart into your wellness website — but if it’s not set up for search engines and for a smooth client experience, it’s like having a beautiful space hidden down an unmarked side street.
The good news is, a simple “health check” can help you get found online more easily while making it effortless for potential clients to connect with you.
1. Site Speed: Don’t Make Visitors Wait
In our on-demand world, three seconds can make or break someone’s decision to stay on your site. A slow-loading page not only frustrates visitors but also hurts your search rankings.
Quick win: Use a free tool like Google PageSpeed Insights to see where your site stands, then compress large images. There are plenty of free online tools for this as well, such as Optimizilla.
2. Mobile-Friendliness: Meet Clients Where They Are
Most people will visit your site from their phone. If they have to pinch and zoom, scroll endlessly, or hunt for buttons, they might just give up.
Quick win: Check your site on your own phone and a friend’s. Make sure your text is easy to read, buttons are easy to tap, and navigation is simple.
3. Google Visibility: Can You Find Yourself?
If you type site:yourwebsite.com into Google and nothing shows up, your site might not be indexed. This means Google doesn’t know you exist.
Quick win: Verify your site in Google Search Console, and submit your sitemap so Google can crawl your pages. Any time you make major changes to your website or add new content, you can go into your GSC account and request indexing of that URL.
4. Headings that Speak to Clients
Your H1, H2, and H3 headings aren’t just for organization — they’re prime real estate for connecting with your audience.
Quick win: Make sure each page has one clear H1 (the main title) at the top of the page, and subheadings that use everyday language your clients would type into Google.
5. Security Builds Trust
A site without HTTPS (the little padlock in your browser) might not load in your visitor’s browser — and Google may even flag it as “Not Secure.”
Quick win: Check that your SSL certificate is active and set to auto-renew through your hosting provider.
6. User Experience is Your Silent Salesperson
If someone can’t find your services page or figure out how to contact you, they’ll leave. Your site should guide visitors naturally toward working with you.
Quick win: Place clear calls-to-action (CTAs) on every page — whether that’s “Schedule a Free Consultation” or “Get in Touch Today.”
